On October 3, 1969, a woman named Shirley Audet was found dead at the back of an apartment complex in downtown Montreal, Quebec.

Fully clothed, the 20-year-old had been raped and strangled to death in an attack that,

from the looks of her fingernails, she was unable to fight back during, possibly because she knew her attacker, or at the very least, was surprised by an ambush that did not allow for her

defense.

Found on her breasts were deep and savage bite marks that would later lead to her

killer being dubbed the vampire rapist by the media.

Speaking with those who knew Shirley, some said that she mentioned something about, quote,

getting into something dangerous, but

failed to elaborate any further. When speaking to an ex-boyfriend, he told police that he believed

that she may have been in a relationship with a violent man. Unfortunately, she never once identified

him, gave his name, or introduced him to anyone in her life.

Police had no way of knowing that the man responsible, the one they were looking everywhere for,

was actually living just next door to Shirley Audet.
