Today's case is just one part of a much larger story. On May 18,

1945, a woman was born who had the unfortunate opportunity to meet and befriend a dangerous man.

Though her case would be his ultimate undoing, the story of this particular crime is much to involve to be contained in just one episode.

So if you like your coffee hot but your bones chilled, sit back and start your day with a morning cup of murder.

Before we begin today's story, I need to give a little caveat.

The story of Susan Jane Berman, born May 18, 1945, is just a small part of a very large

investigation, so large and seemingly disconnected that it needs to be covered in two episodes.

One half, Susan's half, will be told today.

The other part, that of a man named Robert Durst, will be told in a future season.

If you recognize that name, then you understand the need for the separation.

Now, back to Susan Berman.

Susan was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota, as the only child to a traveling dancer, and grew up in both Las Vegas and later in Hollywood.

Attending school alongside classmates like Jan Wenner and Liza Manelli, Susan later went to the

University of California, Los Angeles, where she not only received her bachelor's degree,

but met longtime friend and American real estate heir, Robert Durst.
