This is the final episode of season 4.

I'm very excited about this one because we've done something we've never done before.

A song written specifically for this season of Barry Truse.

As I mentioned in the last episode, it comes from singer and songwriter Caroline Herring

and is performed in her distinctive brand of Southern folk music.

Caroline Herring is both a scholar of the south and a teller of its truths.

She grew up in rural Mississippi, you can hear those gentle cadences in her speech.

She had the same piano teacher for 12 years, and she earned her master's degree from the center

for the study of Southern culture at the University of Mississippi, known also as Ole Miss.

And then she moved on to the University of Texas for her doctoral studies.

And all the while she was playing music and writing music, and nearly 30 years later she still is.
