I want to begin tonight's rounds in a very different way

with a very different kind of rant.

Here is the sounds of the Washington National Cathedral. The bells of the Washington National Cathedral were run 1,000 times in memory of the 1 million Americans who have died from COVID-19.

Washington Post, like many other media publications are trying to make sense of this number,

a million Americans. Washington Post said, try this comparison. The population of DC

is about 670,000 people. Try to imagine life without every person in every building on every street

in the nation's capital.

And then imagine another 330,000 people are gone.

It's still, it's a number that's impossible to conceive of. And most counts have yet to officially reach 1 million.

Johns Hopkins University passed 999,000 yesterday morning.

But the true sum of COVID deaths is already way past a million.

The CDC estimated that the number of excess deaths during the pandemic

already surged past 1 million during the winter omicron wave last January.

And you know even if you're using conservative reasoning here, this virus is ranked only

behind heart disease and cancer as one of America's top three leading causes of death
