We all would like to think that we know where we are going and how to get there.

But at every stage in life, we need divine direction. God has promised to guide us if we simply follow.

and blessing and joy and then immediately it seems to be followed by conflict and trouble.

In fact, even in the Psalms that we're studying through now, you see that ebb and flow.

For example, in Psalm 126, there is great victory.

Cyrus, King of Persia, has said to the children of Israel, go back home. And they're rejoicing, they're seeing their way back to Jerusalem.

Psalm 127 and 128, they've returned.

They're rebuilding.

God is blessing.

The Lord is prospering them, and families are growing. Then you come to Psalm

129, the Psalm that we most recently studied together. And the context of Psalm 129 is opposition,

warfare. It's a reference to the opposition they faced once they returned. You see, just

getting back to Jerusalem, that didn't mean the battle was over.

No, the Samaritans were going to oppose them, and there would be people that mocked them.
