On February 4, 1972, Maureen Louise Sterling and Yvonne Lisa Weber, both 12 years old and

students at the Herbert Slater Middle School in Santa Rosa were on their way home from a visit

to the Redwood Empire Ice Arena. They were last seen hitchhiking, something common for that time

period. Their bodies were found on December 28th of that same year down a steep embankment,

66 feet off the side of the Franz Valley Road.

offered little information about their deaths.

Santa Rosa. All of these bodies were found nude, with little to no evidence, and are referred to as the Santa Rosa hitchhiker murders.
