Summary

This week on Expanded Perspectives the guys start the show off talking about how Google revealed a pair of wireless headphones, but not just any wireless headphones, but ones containing built in language translation software with the ability to translate between 40 different languages — in real time. Then, back on August 25, 2017, a man and his wife were driving through New Mexico when they had an encounter with two tiny green colored beings piloting a convertible UFO. Then, two guys back in June of 2014 had a very odd run in with what can only be described as a white bird like humanoid in rural South Dakota.

After the break Kyle brings up some very strange real life encounters with what is know as The Third Man Effect! In case you don't know, the Third Man Effect involves a strong impression of a felt presence, sometimes with a voice or a shadow-like image, but often without a clear form. Extreme physical conditions, threat to life, and social isolation all seem to trigger the feeling of a presence, which will often feel as if it has a spiritual or guiding purpose. In the case of the third man, it is tempting to think that strong feelings of presence act as some sort of hallucinatory defence mechanism – something that could happen to anyone, but only in very extreme scenarios. Such experiences are, however, also reported in much less dramatic circumstances. Following bereavement, for example, many people report sensing the presence of their deceased loved one; a feeling that someone is still in the house, just upstairs, or in their favorite chair. 2:08.0	The whole front stoop area is just, and what are they like a half inch long? Yeah, I don't know what's going on.
2:14.0	My mother actually called me yesterday and told me it was happening at her house. She said I bought some poison, but I'm afraid to put it out.
2:19.0	I think it might hurt the deer or something. I was like, yeah, are they bothering you? Yeah. He's like, no, I was like, had a pillar.
2:24.0	Leave him alone. She's like, you don't understand Kyle. They're like hundreds. So it's like, whatever. I get home yesterday afternoon.
2:31.0	I completely forgot about the conversation. My mom shows up over here at the house and starts talking to the Lee and the Lee says, oh, man, patty, you should have seen all the caterpillars down there.
2:41.0	I'm like, what's going on? What does everybody know about my house? So I thought the two of them. Who knows what the heck they're talking about? Then sure enough this morning I get out, go get the newspaper.
2:50.0	There's caterpillars everywhere. I bet the birds are loving it. I don't I don't have that issue. I think it's something that follows your family.
2:58.0	It's a curse. A caterpillar curse. What's odd is they're all moving from north to south. Like they're all going in the same direction. It's crazy. That's pretty well. I never seen anything like I need to Google and find out what that is. Yeah, you know what? Yeah, yeah, for real. We do.
3:10.0	Or is there like is I'm always thinking like impending doom is like something happening. I don't know about like all the animals are retreating.
3:16.0	Well, like all in the news for the Supervolcano that they said could possibly erupt faster than they think. Yeah, I'm not down with that.
3:22.0	And there's little to no warning. Yeah. Yeah, I'm not down. You know, that's a problem with us humans is we just kind of forget that the planet could be so dynamic. We just kind of lose fact that yeah, you know, there's volcanoes and stuff all around us and everyone saw, of course, with the hurricanes recently. I guess you're kind of remind the wildfire. What's crazy?
3:39.0	We're still dumb after all the cleanup and stuff happens. People would build beach houses right on the place where the hurricane just wiped everything out all over again. It's pretty place. It's beautiful. It's a beautiful problem.
