Hello history friend.

0:12.0

Welcome to this surprise episode.

0:15.0

So I recently did a conversational kind of episode with Alexander von Sternberg for the History Impossible podcast,

0:24.1

which is a great show. You should definitely check out. And Alex was kind enough to let me

0:28.5

release this on our feed too. So this is just in case you have any interest in the whole

0:35.5

realism theory of international relations. There's many, many layers

0:40.0

to it as we get into in this episode. As you can see, it's a bit on the long side because we

0:45.1

just, well, we just had a really enjoyable conversation. So if you want to learn more about theories

0:50.3

and international relations, how they often seem like they're being squeezed into a box

0:56.3

that doesn't quite fit them, and how there is some good we can take from these theories,

1:02.6

then make sure to listen to this episode. I had a great time doing it, and I'll certainly

1:09.5

be back with Alex again in the future to talk about all

1:13.0

sorts of different topics. Let me and Alex know what you think and enjoy.

1:23.9

All right, hello everybody again. I am happy to say I am here with the awesome Zach Twomley. Twamly. I just realized I don't know how to pronounce that. I want to get you.

1:38.3

You're good. Twomley. Okay, okay. Well, so he is from, as probably most of you listening know, that when diplomacy fails podcast, as well as a number of other awesome things. But I want to let him talk about himself here. So let's just start with some basic background. Basically, who is Zach Twomley? What is when diplomacy fails? How all of this is tied to your schooling, because I like to point this out,

2:02.0

you're one of the few of us historical podcasters, as least that I know of, that actually

2:06.5

has achieved the level of a doctorate in education, or a doctorate in history, rather, in his

2:13.2

education. So any background on, you know, PhD programs in history would also be welcome since I'll

2:18.7

likely be applying soon. So just, I want to let you just fill in, you know, this intro here with

2:25.0

describing all that. Yeah, cool. Well, thanks so much for having me on. We've been trying to do this

2:31.2

for a while. So I appreciate you getting up so early in Sunny Callie.

2:36.8
