For over 75 years, the North Atlantic Treaty Organization has bolstered American power and shape the world order as we know it.

In this pact, we hope to create a shield against aggression and the fear of aggression,

a bulwark which will permit us to get on with the real business of government and society,

the business of achieving a fuller and happier life for all our citizens.

But under President Trump, NATO's future is uncertain.

Here's Trump on Fox News on April 12th.

No, we have to re-examine NATO because they weren't there for us.

And let me tell you, and I've said this for 25 years,

they weren't there for us, and they won't be there for us.

The United States has spent the better part of a year

telling allies, you're on your own. President Trump is threatened to annex Greenland,

the sovereign territory of NATO ally Denmark, and he launched a war in Iran without consulting

NATO allies. Now the president is asking for help securing the Strait of Hormuz, and European

countries are saying, no way.
