First, I want to tell you a little bit about Alejandra.

Before we get into that, she lives in a community with very few resources.

She's little to no health care.

When Alejandra got sick, her parents had no real options,

no doctors in their community, no money for real medical care. By the third day of her sickness,

her little body was shutting down. And she woke up just long enough to look at her mom and say,

I can't take the pain anymore. I can't keep going. I can't imagine her mama's heart at that moment,

but her parents drove hours to find doctors. They tried everything, but what she needed was a

private hospital, and that was impossible for her family to afford. That's when Compassion International

stepped in. Through compassion, Alejandra was treated, and against all odds, she survived. She lived

because someone took action, and right now there are children just like her who won't survive
