Welcome to the Tudor Dixon podcast. The other day, I have to say, I was reading this article

0:05.6

and I thought, this is crazy, the story about this family, the dad was a firefighter,

0:12.5

and then come to find out after he was injured on the job, and he ends up with a drug addiction

0:19.5

through the pain meds, that he actually had a secret life

0:23.9

as like this main mafia hit guy in Chicago. So he's known as like Kenny the kid in Chicago,

0:31.6

but his kids don't know anything. His wife doesn't know anything. And so I read this and it's

0:36.1

from the perspective of his son.

0:38.0

His son has a podcast called Crook County, because it was done in, I'm assuming, Cook County, Illinois.

you know, and having grown up, I grew up in the suburbs of Chicago. So I was there when this was happening, you know,

1:12.9

and I think we think Al Capone happened a million years ago. But this was like the Al Capone

1:18.8

group. Your dad was a part of this. Yeah, the mob was pretty much, you know, at a peak power

1:25.8

through the 60s, 70s, and 80s and started to fall apart

1:29.1

in the 90s. And then Operation Family Secrets was a huge federal investigation and sting that

1:35.6

took down pretty much all the five families in the early 2000s, which, you know, it was 20 years ago,

1:42.5

but still fairly recent, you know. And so yeah, my dad was

1:47.1

deep in the mob during the time that they were still very much power powerhouse in Chicago.
