Hello everyone, you are listening to the Earful Tower podcast. My name's Oliver G.

0:04.7

Earful Tower. What does that mean? Earful. Earful. It's like the Eiffel Tower, but it's a podcast

0:11.0

for your ears. I can't believe I have to explain it, but apparently I do. I learn recently.

0:17.8

So this is a podcast all about Paris, all about France. Usually I'll have a guest

0:22.5

and I'll interview them and I'll talk about their lives. But sometimes, in fact, pretty rarely,

0:28.5

you just get me talking. And that's what today's episode is about because if you rewind a little bit,

0:34.3

you guys know, many of you know anyway that I used to work as a journalist.

0:38.5

And during historic times like now, during this lockdown in Paris, sometimes I feel like

0:44.2

it's important just to give an honest on the scene look at what's happening. Just a true

0:50.0

man on the street look at life. If nothing else, it'll probably be historically interesting,

0:56.3

even for me to listen back to what life's like during a lockdown in Paris. So that's why I wanted

1:02.8

to do this episode. But also, I'm getting a lot of emails from you guys asking what's going on,

1:08.7

telling me about your trips being canceled, telling me about

1:11.6

lockdowns in your various countries and how they're all different. So I just wanted to share

1:15.5

what life is like here. Usually I try and make the episodes as evergreen or timeless as possible

1:21.2

because I like to think people could listen to it two years from now. But today, kind of a bit

1:26.5

of an exception. This is right on the money

1:29.4

in terms of being relevant because I'm recording it in the evening, Sunday, 15th and November,

1:36.8

and releasing it well in just a matter of hours, really, for Monday morning. So this is as fresh as it

1:42.0

gets. This is a look at Paris in lockdown 2.0.

1:46.0

And before I even get into it, just a reminder, I was here for the whole first lockdown, the two months.

1:52.0

Now I'm here for the second one, so I'm going to sort of talk through both of them while trying to keep a positive spin on it as well, you know.
