Christmas time for children must be very exhilarating and frustrating all at the same time.

And looking at all these boxes, this wrapped, beautifully wrapped boxes under the tree, it's very exhilarating.

But having to wait for Christmas Day, it must be frustrating.

Looking at these boxes under the tree, they must conjure in their

mind, imagination of what's in them, but have to wait for the confirmation of what's in

those boxes must be frustrating. So it has to be both exhilarating and frustrating all at the same

time. In the sense, watching children vacillate between excitement and frustration

is a microcosm of human nature.

Because by nature, all of us human beings are curious.

We're inquisitive. We want to know secrets. We want to know what nobody else knows.

And we get frustrated when we don't. And in many ways, this is how it was about life after death

in the Old Testament. They had an inkling what it's like, but they really did not know.

Even the psalmas said that the body goes to the ground and then the soul goes to its maker.

They had an inkling of what it is on the other side of death, what it is on the other side of the

grave, but they really did not know. Of course,

there are some. There are a few. There are a handful like Abraham and David and Isaiah and

Ezekiel whom God privileged and gave them a glimpse of what eternity looks like, but there

were just some. Not everybody. Not everybody was given that privilege.

Only when God became man.

And he was able to pull that curtain and let us all peer into what's on the other side of life.

Only when Jesus Christ came from heaven to earth

was able to open those wrap boxes
