Let's turn over to Isaiah chapter 40.

And let me say that this week what I've been doing is teaching that God loves us, that

his nature is love. First John Chapter 4,

verse 8. But there's a lot of people that get this confused because they look at

life and there's a lot of bad things that happen in life and I tell you I hadn't even

touched on this and I'm even afraid to mention it because I'm afraid I might get started teaching on it because this is one of my pet peeves but there's people that teach that God controls everything and that if you had like

they were telling Ashley and Carly that maybe it's God's will that this happens to

your daughter after all it couldn't happen if God didn't permit it. In my estimation that is the worst doctrine

in the body of Christ and it is prevalent in the body of Christ thinking that God did it.

So if you have that doctrine that God is sovereign and that God controls everything,

then people blame God for the deaths, the sicknesses, the disease, the divorce, they blame God.

I've actually, anyway, like I said, I could get started on this. But things like that give people a wrong impression about God. They blame God

for all the bad stuff that happens and also people interpret the Old Testament where God did strike people with leprosy. Also people

with leprosy and an angel went out and killed 185,000 men in the Syrian army and one night

and things happen and stuff like this and they see this and they think that God is the one that causes all of these problems and what that does

it confuses what the true nature of God is like. I've been trying to show you that that is not how God started with Adam and Eve when they sin he didn't just impute their sins unto him. Romans 513, says until the law, sin was in the world, but sin is not

imputed where there is no law. And God dealt with people in mercy for the first 2,000 years.

Abraham married his half-sister, which according to Leviticus 18

was a sexual abomination punishable by death. You had to stone them to death.
