Summary

Religion teaches that we can receive the blessings of God through our efforts and actions, but we must receive from God by faith because we can never obtain the promises of God by our own efforts. In this updated teaching, Andrew shares about the sovereignty of God and the error in believing that God controls everything.

0:20.5	Welcome to our Tuesday's broadcast of the Gospel Truth. Today I'm continuing a series that I started just yesterday talking about the true nature of God.
0:31.6	This is a book that I wrote many, many years ago, and as I said on our program yesterday, I call this Christianity 101.

0:40.9	If you don't understand who God is and how he has limited himself, how he controls himself,
0:49.6	how he responds to us, the covenants that he's made with us, then I guarantee you Satan can deceive
0:56.0	you into believing a lie. And yesterday I used 2 Peter chapter 1 where it says grace and peace
1:03.1	is multiplied unto us through the knowledge of God. It goes on to say that all things that pertain
1:09.6	unto life and godliness, all things. In the Greek, that word
1:14.6	means all things. That means everything you need, everything that you receive from God comes through
1:22.7	the knowledge of Him that is called us to glory and virtue. And then verse 4 says that that knowledge has given us
1:29.3	these exceeding great and precious promises. God's Word contains His knowledge, the knowledge of God.
1:36.2	And you cannot have a vibrant, victorious relationship with God if you are misunderstanding His nature. And yesterday this led me to
1:48.0	countering an extreme interpretation of the sovereignty of God. I believe that God is sovereign
1:55.0	in the sense that He is almighty, that He is all powerful. But religion has redefined sovereign. Matter of fact, if you go
2:02.2	look sovereign up in the dictionary, you can't find a dictionary definition that says what
2:09.7	religion says. Religion says that sovereign not only means that he's almighty, that he's, you know,
2:16.6	the top of the food chain, that nobody gives
2:19.0	him orders, which I agree with that. But religion has defined sovereignty as saying that God
