Let's turn back to the book of Romans.

This is where I started on Thursday night.

I used Romans 116, which says, I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power

of God under salvation to the Jew first and also to the Greek.

And I spent the entire first service talking about what the gospel is, what salvation is,

and that if a person is having a problem receiving anything that Jesus provided,

it's because they don't truly understand the gospel, the grace of God. They are tying God's blessing to some worth or value in

their life. And that's what's stopping us is our own self-righteousness, trust in ourselves.

In verse 17, it says, for therein, in the gospel,

is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith as it is written,

the just shall live by faith. Boy, there is a lot in that verse. I can't really stop here

or I'll never get off of it. But you go study this out on your own.

The righteousness of God. Most people aren't promoting God's righteousness. They're

promoting their righteousness. And the only way you can really understand that your righteousness,

your right actions can never

make you accepted with God. You can't do enough good. You can't restrain from enough bad.

There is nothing that you can do to make yourself acceptable. The only righteousness

that is acceptable is God's righteousness. There are not very many people

that understand that and believe that. I'm going to come back, maybe. Look in Romans chapter 9
