In December, I drove up a beautiful winding road with my co-host, Rosie Garan, and our producer Abigail Keel.

We were headed to our colleague Gregory Hahn's home.

In January 2025, Gregory and his wife, Emily, evacuated from their home, thinking they'd only be gone for a few days.

But the damage and destruction from the Eaton fire kept them from moving back for six months.

You can see it's a very oak line street.

Gregory's house is on the top of a big hill.

He lives on a small cul-de-sac with a handful of other homes, all built in the meadows

neighborhood of Altadena.

A year out from the fire, none of the homes around him looked burned.

The fires didn't even come up the side of the hill, but it doesn't mean they weren't damaged.

Yeah, so when I arrived here, this area was the most obvious contaminated with particulate matter.
