0:00.0	Welcome to our daily rosary meditation. Let's begin in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit.
0:05.0	Amen. Let's call to mind all those we've promised to pray for.
0:09.0	Today we celebrate the Feast of the Triumph of the Cross. This feast celebrates three things.
0:17.5	The discovery of the true cross of Jesus by Queen Helena in Jerusalem in 326 AD.
0:25.0	The recovery of the Cross of Jesus by the Byzantine Emperor Heraclius in 630 AD after it had been stolen by the Persians and finally the way
0:38.8	we may triumph through our own crosses. Now many people think Jesus was not a real
0:45.4	historical person and that Christianity is just a myth. One of the reasons I love
0:51.4	going to the Holy Land is that the historical places connect us to the reality of Jesus.
0:59.0	Queen Helena, the mother of the Roman Emperor Constantine, went herself on pilgrimage to Jerusalem
1:07.6	in 325 to find and restore all the places connected with the life of Jesus. Now in God's
1:15.7	Providence are most important places, the birthplace of Jesus in Bethlehem, Calvary where Jesus was crucified and died, and the empty
1:26.5	tomb of the resurrection were known by the local inhabitants for two reasons. First, Christians had continuously venerated these
1:37.1	places from the time of Jesus. Second, the Roman Emperor Hadrian following the Barcoqba Rebellion in 132, attempted to put a stop to Christians venerating these sites. So he placed a pagan temple over each one and without
1:59.9	realizing it he perfectly preserved our most holy sites.
2:06.4	So when Queen Helena arrived, all she had to do
2:11.1	was order the pagan temples to be removed, where underneath she found Calvary, the
2:17.4	empty tomb of the resurrection, and the birthplace of Jesus in Bethlehem.
2:23.0	Then, over Calvary and the tomb of the resurrection,
2:28.0	she built the Church of the Holy Sepulchre.
2:31.0	And at his birthplace in Bethlehem she built the church of the Nativity and on the
2:39.3	Mount of Olives she constructed the church of Eliona.
2:45.0	Jesus is not a myth.
