The subject of my investigation is the trial that inspired the new Netflix documentary that everyone is talking about.

The perfect neighbor neighbor it's a

tragic story about four children who lost their mother due to a senseless

neighborhood feud and one woman's rage here's the story in the quiet streets of

Okaala Florida a mother named.J. Owens raised four children.

Her home, a haven of love and trust.

That house, however, would soon become the epicenter of a tragedy captured in raw detail.

On June 2nd, 2023, neighbor Susan Lawrence stood behind her locked front door and fired her gun, killing AJ through the threshold.

The case exploded onto screens and tablets when Netflix released The Perfect Neighbor, a documentary assembled from police body cam footage, 911 audio, and detective

interviews. But before the movie, in a trial broadcast live here on court TV, jurors were shown the

chilling interviewer Lawrence claimed she had no choice, citing Florida's Stand Your Ground in

In August of 2024, she was found guilty of manslaughter and received a 25 years sentence.

Now serving time behind bars, Lawrence watches her perfect neighbor image crumble as the documentary reignites the debate.
