Few performers combine ambition, determination, and audience rapport as winningly as Dwayne Johnson.

He joined me on the treatment for a far-ranging conversation about his newest goal,

emerging as a serious actor with the biopic, The Smashing Machine.

His treat is the fuel that his home life provides for his work.

I'm Dwayne Johnson.

This is the treat.

I think a few things that's inspired me is my babies, my girls.

I'm a proud girl dad.

My daughter Simone, Jazzy, Tia, all different ages, 20s, 9, 7, they inspire me.

My loved ones inspire me. My wife inspires me. My mom who's with us inspires me.

Despite the complicated relationship I had, the very complicated relationship I have with my dad,

he inspires me still. I vacillate between being pissed at him and going, wait a second. It's my job

now. He's not here. I maybe have a little bit more capacity to love to give him grace because he was

kicked out of his house when he was 13 years old.

I would say finally, work inspires me.

Didn't know that I would be at a place where I could feel such like I'm swinging my legs out of bed every day in the morning to go to work.

I didn't know if I was going to be here in this part of my career at this time in my life where I thought maybe it's like, hey, don't rock the boat, you're doing good. You make those kinds of films.

But this kind of film, and now I run to this now, we're creating something with Martin Scorsese and with Darren Aeronovsky.

Man, I'm at this place in my life where I'm on my fifth level and didn't think that I would be here, but I'm here. Golden Globe nominee and star of the Smashing Machine, among other films,
