I'm Rebecca Scher and welcome to Circle Round.

Where story time happens all the time.

Today our story is called the Treasure Axe.

Versions of this tale come from all over the world.

From Greece, Latvia and Russia, to Nigeria, Indonesia and Japan, to China, Thailand and Tibet.

Some really great people came together to bring you our adaptation of this story, including Adrian Martinez.

You kids listening might recognize Adrian from Lady and the Tramp on Disney Plus.

And you grown-ups might know him from Stump Town on ABC.

So Circle Round everyone for the Treasure Axe.

Their once was a poor wood chopper.

The wood chopper lived with his dear old mother and his percusious little son, and made just enough money cutting and selling firewood to keep a roof over their heads and food in their bellies.

Each morning, so early that the stars still twinkle in the brightening sky, the hardworking wood chopper rolled out of his rigidity bed and picked up his trusting iron axe.

He'd inherited the well-worn hatchet with the smooth wooden handle for his father, and had been using the tool for so long it felt like an old friend.
