All right, I'm Ali Velshi. It's Sunday, June 8th. We know that the California National Guard troops have arrived in Los Angeles now.

You're looking at pictures of troops at a federal building in downtown Los Angeles.

Just think about this for a second. Federalized National Guard troops in downtown L.A.

President Trump was the one to deploy the National Guard, not as is typically the case,

the governor. That's how it normally works. Last night, the Trump administration said it would be

sending 2,000 California National Guard troops to L.A. in response to protests over immigration

enforcement operations, which you're looking at now. Yesterday, demonstrators clashed with law enforcement, not National Guard.

Officials responded with tear gas. Some demonstrators set vehicles on fire and blocked major roadways.

The protests are in response to a sweeping ice operation in Southern California, particularly at a local home depot.

L.A. Mayor Karen Bass called Trump's move to deploy the National Guard

unnecessary. California Governor Gavin Newsom, who normally holds the power to deploy the National

Guard, said it would create a spectacle. He accused the Trump administration of moving to take

over the California National Guard. The Defense Secretary Pete Hegeseth went a lot farther, actually.

He tweeted this morning, the National Guard and Marines, if need be, stand with ice, end quote.

There's no work for the military in law enforcement in America.

It's not actually allowed.

Trump's appointed Borders are Tom Homan warned that

Governor Newsom and Mayor Bass could face arrest if they impede federal authorities work. NBC's Jacob

Soberoff asked Homan about it last night. There have been threats, you know, previously that

if you stand in the way of your enforcement operations, you know, you could be subject potentially to arrest.

Are you saying that about Mayor Bass and Governor Newsom, or they at risk being arrested?

I'll say it about anybody.
