Welcome to our rosary meditation.

We are right on Mount Tabor, the place of the Transfiguration.

So let's begin in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit.

Amen.

Let's call to mind all those who've promised to pray for.

The context of every event is telling,

and the context of the Transfiguration is the first prophecy of the suffering, death, and resurrection of Jesus.

Jesus said, the Son of man is destined to suffer grievously to be rejected by the elders

and chief priests and scribes and to be put to death and to be raised up on the third day.

Then to all he said, if anyone wants to be a follower of mine, let him renounce himself and take up

his cross every day and follow me. After this had been said, he took with him Peter and John and James

and went up the mountain to pray.

You're sitting on this mountain right now.

As he prayed, his face was changed, and his clothing became brilliant as lightning.

Suddenly there were two men talking to him, Moses and Elijah, speaking of his suffering and death which would be accomplished

at Jerusalem. Peter and his companions were having a hard time staying awake, but they saw his glory.

And Peter said, Master, it is wonderful for us to be here.

Let us just stay.

But he did not know what he was saying.

And as he spoke, a voice came from heaven saying,

this is my son.
