Is it really the end of the transatlantic partnership?

Where is this just all theater?

Your thoughts? Well, I think there is a lot

of theater here. I mean, I think that we have not yet reached, in fact, we're not close to the

point where, you know, there really are going to go in different directions and that there's

this split.

I mean, in Europe, people, as we've discussed many times, are still massively invested in keeping

the relationship with the United States as strong as possible, as keeping the United States

in Europe, as into keeping the United States in NATO and all of these things.

Because if nothing else, I mean, it's money.

I mean, it's a steady flow of American investment, American money.

It works for a lot of the political and economic elites of Europe to keep this relationship going.

But you are getting more signs now that some people in the United States are becoming increasingly

exasperated with the relationship and are starting to say to themselves,

well, this is an entirely, a traffic entirely in one direction, in the sense that we give

and the Europeans take, and they don't give a very, very much in return.

And this conflict between the United States and Iran has acted

as a further catalyst for this, because the Europeans fundamentally, deep down, don't care

about Iran, at least not in the way that the US does. They don't, for them,

Iran is not a threat. It's not a country that's going to invade Europe. It's not a part of Europe.
