0:42.0	My name is Marlin. Today's August 11th. On March 20th my dad was in a very
0:54.0	severe cycling accident that he never recovered from and on April 13th he
1:05.5	died in hospice and on April 25th I started hiking the continental divide trail.
1:18.6	My mom sent me a little film canister with some of his ashes when she sent me a box
1:29.8	of food and new shoes. So pretty much since my 300 or so of this trail I've
1:41.1	been carrying about a tablespoon of my dad's ashes.
1:45.6	My mom told me to spread them somewhere
1:52.6	somewhere beautiful or important on the trail and I haven't been able to do
2:02.2	that yet. I don't know if I don't want to let it go.
2:11.0	On August 1st 2022 Marlin emailed our show and told us that while he was hiking
2:17.6	through the US he was also hiking through the first months of grieving his
2:22.2	father. So we told him to start recording himself and we did this because we
2:30.2	are podcasters and also because the first year of grief is so disorienting.
2:36.8	Once you're through it it can be hard to remember and I kept journals I kept
2:42.6	notebooks I kept a Google calendar and when I look back at any of these things it
