34-year-old Aileen Lulu Korschein is found strangled to death next to a turnpike outside

a town.

Even though Lulu was engaged to someone else, she had gone out on a date the previous night

with a man named Rick McEw.

Even though there is very little evidence against him, Rick is eventually charged with Lulu's

murder and found guilty at trial.

However, after allegations of dreamless conduct caused the conviction to be overturned, Rick

receives a new trial and is acquitted in 1993.

Even though compelling evidence seems to point towards the brother of Lulu's fiance,

no one else has ever charged with her murder.

After that, the trail went cold.

I'm your host Robin Warder and today we'll be examining a crime which possibly led to

a wrongful conviction, the 1987 murder of Aileen Lulu Korschein.

This is a case which was featured as a final appeal segment on unsolved mysteries in 1993.

As you might know, the final appeal segments examined cases which were technically solved

and ended in a conviction, but there was some doubt about whether the right person was

in prison for the crime.

In this particular case, a man named Rick McCue had received a life sentence for Lulu's
