Summary

Since “The Trail Went Cold” originally launched in February 2016, we have featured nearly 500 cold cases on the podcast, a number of which have wound up being solved or have experienced major developments. As a result, we have now released a total of six special “update” episodes and this is our second episode about updates which took place in 2024. This time around, we’ll share major developments in such cases as the 1996 murders of Julie Williams and Lollie Winans, the 2000 disappearance of Asha Degree and the 1995 disappearance of Morgan Nick. These are just some of the cases we’ll be discussing on our sixth “update” episode of “The Trail Went Cold”. The Happy New Year, everyone, and welcome to our first Trail Went Cold episode of 2025. I'm your host

0:41.5

Robin Werder, and yes, it's that time again, as our podcast is dropping our six special update

0:47.9

episode. I've already said this a million times, but when I originally started the Trail Went Cold

0:53.1

back in 2016, I thought

0:55.8

it would be cool if one or two of the cases we featured on the podcast wound up being solved,

1:01.1

but I never dreamed this would happen so often that we'd eventually have enough material to

1:05.7

release six update episodes like this. Now, 2024 started off with such a bang when it came to cold case resolutions

1:13.8

that we actually released an update episode back in March, and while I wondered if there would be

1:18.9

enough material to release a second update episode at the end of the year, there have been

1:23.3

quite a few major breakthroughs in some cold cases these past nine months.

1:32.9

So before we get started, I should mention that this episode will exclusively focus on updates, which have taken place since March of 2024. So if you'd like to learn about the cases

1:38.2

that have been resolved before then, I'd recommend going back and listening to our previous

1:42.9

updates on episodes number 155, 257, 310, 359, and 369.

1:50.6

I should also mention that episode number 369 featured updates that happened in the cases of Donna Lass, Dexter Stephanic, Byron Carr, and Mary Jane Van Gilder,

2:01.1

so to avoid repeating myself, I will not be discussing them here,

2:05.0

so if you would like to learn more information about those cases,

2:08.2

feel free to listen to that episode.

2:10.7

Anyway, without any further ado,

2:12.3

let us now begin the Trail Went Cold's six official update episode.

2:19.5

So cue the vintage old-schoolaw mysteries update music. So we're going to start up by discussing an horrific double homicide which wound up being

2:38.3

solved after 28 years, and that's the 1996 murders of 24-year-old Julie Williams and 26-year-old

...
