A burning car belonging to 30-year-old Leon LaRela is found next to a remote road.

Leon's body is lying near the vehicle and he has been shot through the back of the head.

One hour earlier, Leon left his home to drive to work for a shift at a supermarket,

but even though his co-workers were called seeing his car in the parking lot,

Leon never entered the store. Since Leon was gay,

there is speculation that his murder might have been a hate crime or he was killed because he saw

something he wasn't supposed to, but there are no conclusive answers about what happened.

After that, the trail went cold.

Went Cold. I'm your host Robin Warder, and today we're going to be exploring a heartbreaking

cold case which desperately needs attention, the 1996 murder of Leon LaRela's.

I received a request to cover this case from Leon's niece, Arlene Harbison,

when I met her at CrimeCon in Las Vegas earlier this year. Arlene has been seeking justice for her
