magistrate, is discovered to be missing from her home. Even though there are no signs of

forced entry, Dorothy's nine-year-old stepdaughter claims that an unidentified man entered Dorothy's

bedroom and carried her unconscious body out of the residence. There is speculation that Dorothy's

disappearance might be connected to another incident from nearly five years earlier, where she

was violently attacked by an unknown individual inside the house, but no trace of Dorothy is ever found.

Hello everyone and welcome to our latest episode of The Trail, Went Cold. I'm your host

Robin Warder, and today we're going to be exploring a terrifying missing person's case which

took place over 70 years ago, the 1949 disappearance of Dorothy Forstine. I've received a few

requests to cover this one because it's a horrifying story which pretty much faded from the

spotlight for several decades, but seems to have become the subject of discussion from online

sleuths in recent years. Dorothy Forstine was a housewife and mother from Philadelphia who was

married to a local magistrate named Jules Forstine that after returning home late one night,

Jules discovered that two of his children were alone and seemed terrified. Sure enough,

Jules' nine-year-old daughter Marcy would soon share a shocking story about having witnessed

an unidentified man abduct Dorothy from the residence, and while the authorities were initially

skeptical about this, a psychiatrist who interviewed Marcy believed she was likely telling the truth.

Believe it or not, this was not the first unsolved crime to take place in that house,

as nearly five years earlier, Dorothy was attacked by an assailant who inflicted some serious

injuries on her, but no one was able to figure out the identity of the perpetrator.

Could the same person have returned to finish the job and abducted Dorothy? And if so, what was
