While driving his girlfriend home, 18-year-old

Andre Jones has stopped at a police sobriety checkpoint

and has taken into custody on a number of charges

after the pickup truck he is driving is determined to be stolen.

Andre is transferred to the Simpson County Jail,

but over 19 hours after his arrival,

he is found hanging in a shower stall with one of his own shoe

laces and the authorities rule is death to be a suicide.

However, Andre's family believes he was the victim

of a racially motivated murder,

but while an investigation is launched into a number

of suspicious suicides which took place

in various Mississippi jails during this time period,

there are no conclusive answers about what happened.
