After completing her shift at a coffee shop in the Crocker, Galleria, 18-year-old Kristen Modiferry vanishes without a trace

Even though co-workers are porting Kristen with a blonde woman

She has never identified and Bloodhound's trot Kristen sent to the edge of the Pacific Ocean at lands end over six miles away

Weeks later, a man named Jono Numa phones in a fake tip in which he falsely accuses two women of murdering Kristen

But even though Oh Numa does a number of suspicious things and multiple women accuse him of abuse

No conclusive evidence ties him to Kristen's disappearance

After that, the trot went cold

When Gretchen originally entered this contest about three and a half years ago

The one case you requested I cover was the 1996 disappearance of California Polytechnic State University student Kristen Smart

But as you probably heard and arrest was finally made in that case last year and the trial is set to take place sometime within the next few months

So for this particular episode

I decided to cover another cold case from California

involving a young university student named Kristen which took place one year later
