Summary

October 12th: Matthew Shepard’s Murder (1998) Some stories become political statements that last well beyond the murder itself and the ensuing trial. On October 12th 1998 a young boy was murdered and, though the motive remains a topic of debate for some, his death became the push some needed to pass a much needed law to ensure safety for certain minority groups like the LGBTQIA+ community.  https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Matthew_Shepard, https://www.matthewshepard.org/about-us/our-story/, https://www.theguardian.com/world/2014/oct/26/the-truth-behind-americas-most-famous-gay-hate-murder-matthew-shepard, https://www.history.com/this-day-in-history/the-victim-of-an-anti-gay-assault-dies Learn more about your ad choices.
