What became of the dream of dragons was a grievous tragedy born in a moment of joy.

In the fateful year 259 AC, the king summoned many of those closest to him to Summerhall, his favorite castle, there to celebrate the impending birth of his first great

grandchild a boy named Rhaegar to his grandson Aries and granddaughter Ralella the

children of Prince Jaharis the tragedy of Summer Hall was a spectacular attempt by

egg on the fifth to hatched dragon eggs and it failed spectacularly killing most

to all of the participants plus at at least some, probably most of

the witnesses.

Those mentioned by name there were Ares, Rayella, Jeharis, and Little Rhaegar, who may have

been born during the tragedy itself, all survived, as did the unnamed Shara, who was

sister-wife to Jeharis, and at least a few others.

But King Egon the Fifth, probably his queen, Beth of Blackwood, and definitely Lord Commander Duncan the Tall,

and likely more, if not all of the Kingsguard, plus other members of the royal court,

perished in the conflagration.
