On this podcast, I like to talk to the big, to the growing figures in politics.

But this week is an exception.

I'm going to talk to someone who's got an awfully lot smaller.

Six stone smaller.

He's the deputy leader of the Labour Party Tom Watson, a man who has been dogs by the words.

Heavyweight, bruiser, fixer.

Now they say I'm a diminished figure in politics, Nick.

But thankfully, because of weight loss, they probably say the other, with the other meeting as well.

But how much? Come on, you walked in here.

I haven't seen you for a few weeks, or I've seen you on the TV.

And you've lost a loss of weight.

Yeah, I've lost 86 pounds so far.

I started the end of last year in the autumn and I cut out sugar and then started walking,

then jogging, then riding a bike, then I joined a gym.

And now I'm doing a few weights and I feel great and very chilled out.

But you also, when you're on that bike or in the gym, is there a bit of you think this isn't me at all?

I'm not this person. What's that?

Yeah, I kind of, because I didn't know where it was going to go.

I just knew I'd reached a point and I'd be piling the pants on over the years.
