Why on earth were we surprised?

The Prime Minister who said there would not be a delay to Brexit announced that there

might well be a delay to Brexit.

This the woman who said there be no snap election and had a snap election, who said there

was only one deal on Brexit available and then voted against that deal and promised to

renegotiate it.

Theresa May is making a habit not merely of eating her own words but of making a veritable

banquet of them.

There are commitments I am making as Prime Minister and I will stick by them as I have

previous commitments.

To make statements and table amendable motions by specific dates.

To be fair to the Prime Minister, she doesn't set out to be fickle and certainly not dishonest.

She finds herself leading a divided party and a divided parliament with no majority at

Assert yourself, play tough, don't compromise.
