man's attitude towards their prisoner,

Lord de Winter, suspecting Melady's influence over Felton, sends him away. But Felton

returns the night before her banishment to help her escape from the manor. He frees, milady, revealing his plan to assassinate Buckingham

and then flee to France with her by boat.

Malady, pleased with the success of her manipulation, eagerly supports this scheme.

They land their boat in Portsmouth

and Felton instructs Malady

to wait for him to complete his deed and return,

noting they are to leave without him
