Melady, D'Artagnan gathers his friends and returns home, where Kitty is found taking refuge.

She reveals that Monsieur Bonacieux frequently visits Melady, confirming her role in his wife's kidnapping.

D'Artagnan and D'atosz pawn the lady's ring to buy supplies,

and d'artagnan later receives two letters, one from Madame Bonassou, requesting a secret meeting,

and another from the Cardinal, demanding his presence that night.

With the Muscatier's support, D'Artagnan sees Madame Bonacieux speed past in a carriage,

leaving him uncertain about her safety, and then heads to his meeting with the Cardinal.
