Now if you go on the website of the CDC, the Center for Disease Control, and you look up leading causes of death in the United States, the first two are not really a surprise.

Number one is heart disease and number two is

cancer. But when I looked it up in researching this program

depending on what year it was the number three disease was listed as either lower respiratory disease

or something they categorized as accidents, which I assume at falling off a ladder or stepping

in front of a bus bus injuries of various kinds.

Our first guest today co-authored an eight-year study over at Johns Hopkins in Baltimore

which reveals the true number three cause of death in the United States, and that's, wait for it, medical error.
