I have some sad news to report. My father passed peacefully this past week and I have

spoken warmly about him throughout my 10 years here with Clark's World magazine.

He was a kind and generous soul and I will miss him very much.

Alethea stepped in to help with some of the narrations at the end of the month and I cannot thank her enough.

Aleithia's first narration is The Thing with the Helmets by Emily C. Scaffton.

Now Emily C. Scaffin is editor-in-chief at the Norwegian American, America's only Norwegian newspaper,

and writes about love and monsters in her spare time.

Emily is a graduate of the Clarion West Writers Workshop and holds an

MFA in creative writing. Her work has been published in Strange Horizons, Asimov's

Daily Science Fiction and more.

If Emily had a magic helmet, she'd use it against traffic, chewing gum, and rain.

Despite the inability yet to vanquish rain, she lives just north of Seattle with her husband,

the mad scientist and two mini tigers.
