I think this is something that's so important for us in the church to think about.

So often when I hear why don't people go to church and you see all the statistics of why people aren't going or why they've left, and we've talked plenty about that on the show.

But a lot of times that line you'll hear is they're so hypocritical.

I wonder, and just spitball in here, if that doesn't mean there was no empathy

for me when I was in the church. Like they either sat in judgment to fix me or they dismissed

me, but nobody came to suffer with me in the ditch.

I mean, this is the constant encouragement from the apostles and from the Lord himself

that if somebody wanders, you go out and find them.

If somebody's caught up in a sin, you go out to them.

If somebody is suffering, you pray for them.

So whether it's sin or whether it's difficulty or whether it's

it's anxiety or whatever it is people are facing,

they should know that when they come to church,

regardless for how good or the bad the past week was,

somebody who's going to say to him,

boy, I'm glad you're here, because the Lord Jesus

has gifts to give just to you.

And they'll know they have a place

where they're going to receive mercy, at least here,

at least in the church. They're going to get some sort of mercy applying the riches of the Reformation to the modern church.
