tuning in once again to hear a little bit about Texas history.

This 2023 is closing out. This episode is being recorded and released in late December

2023 and this marks the bicentennial of the Texas Rangers. We've done several

Texas Ranger episodes this year and I hope

you'll go back and check those out. We're going to close out the year with an

episode about a Ranger from the early 20th century who went on to have a very different, very

interesting, and very significant career as a United States congressman.

And then at the end of a summary of his as a United States Congressman.

And then at the end of a summary of his life, I interview his grandson and we talk a little bit

about his life and we also talk about the family story so

what's it like to have a ranger in the family now this by no means 2023

closing out by no means will we be done with the Texas Rangers because they are so

involved in all aspects of Texas history but this will be the final bicentennial episode.

So let's go back to rural Texas in the early 20th century and get wise about Texas. The story is about an individual named Milton Horace West.

Milton H. West had many occupations. He was a Texas Ranger, he was a Chamber of Commerce

President, he was a bank president, he was a district attorney, he was a

state rep, and he was a congressman. How in the world he packed all of that

into one life

reveals a man with a tremendous work ethic

and a very interesting background.
