I'm Brian, I'm on the phone with Ashvin, and today we are talking about the Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2 from 1986,

directed by Toby Hooper, written by L.M. Kit Carson, starring Caroline Williams, Dennis Hopper, Jim Cedow, and Bill Mosley.

And in this more comedic sequel to 1974's The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Leatherface, and his creepy family are up to their same old cannibalistic

hijinks. And boy, is it hijinks in this one.

Yeah, it's all about a hijinks pretty much.

Yeah.

Yeah, this is a slasher, horror comedy.

How do you feel about the different route of like a slasher movie going more comedic?

I'm like so puzzled. Not to get into the review prematurely. Yeah, yeah. But like, yeah, on the onset, you can tell like there's a whole different tone in this movie. And I'm just so surprised. And like even reading about like Toby Hooper, he did want to kind of make a dark comedy horror here. And it sounds

like he thinks the first one had elements of that. Did you ever pick up anything there?

Yeah, I read that quote. He thought that like this is black humor like taken farther, but

that the first one had black humor and no one noticed it because it was so like dark and, know the tone of that one but I don't know about that

Yeah, I'm trying to think back on like what would have been the comedy part in that

Is it was it like him like trolling the the the family that like lives in like like these hillbillies basically? I

Don't know or I don't know if it was just like the way the family acted or like the way the cook acted that was black humor or what.

Yeah.

It's funny because like I'm not opposed at all to a slasher going more comedic or any horror movie going more comedic in the sequels.

I think horror and comedy work well together.

But it's interesting with this one because the Texas Chainsaw Massacre is such a standout for just how, like, menacing and gritty it is,
