In the hours before she died when nurses at Emory Hospital asked

I.N. McGiver what happened, she told them it was in accident.

Her husband, Tex McGiver, also said it was in accident.

I started questioning him. I leaned in in kind of a comforting manner

and said what happened, what's going on.

And he said to me it was an accident.

I was, I had the gun in the back seat and it just went off.

Tex McGiver says he must have dozed off when he was jarred awake

by a flash of light and the sound of the gun firing.

He says he doesn't recall pulling the trigger and still isn't sure exactly what happened.

He says he never broke down crying as he described realizing his wife, Diane, had been shot.

Because Tex and Diane McGiver were both patients at Emory Hospital,

he says he asked Danny Joe to drive him there and says they arrived within 10 minutes of the shooting.

In the aftermath of Diane's death, some of Tex's closest friends are already saying

there's just no way it could be anything other than an accident.

I know that Tex McGiver loved Diane.

I've been around them for about 10 years now and there's no question in my mind

but what it was a horrible accident.

But at the hospital that night, there were hints of possible trouble in the McGiver's relationship.

So investigators are looking at and trying to figure out, you know,

what exactly is the nature of the relationship between Tex and Diane?
