I'm Josh Carney.

When you think of the position battles during training camp for the Pittsburgh Steelers,

battles at cornerback, safety, and even receiver come to mind first.

But there's one position battle that should have eyes glued to it this summer.

That would be at punter between the now healthy Cameron Johnston and the dependable Corliss Waitman.

Johnston was signed to a nice three-year $9 million deal in free agency last off-season

and was believed to be the answer to the punting woes for the Steelers.

But then, he was lost in the fourth quarter of the season opener

after blowing out his knee on a low hit against the Falcons.

The Steelers then turned to Waitman, who had a nice season, averaging 46.4 yards per punt

last year on 65 punts.
