Summary

Another episode of my TV show has been uploaded for free! “Jay Dyer and Jay Weidner explore the nightmarish world of the Terminator movies where an advance A.I. computer rules the future of our planet. Before the A.I. can take control of the world, it must first eliminate vast swaths of the human populace. But, if one hero stands in the way from a complete take over, what is a computer to do? We find out as a cybernetic champion is sent back in time to eliminate the hero of the human race, before he has a chance to learn of his fate. These movies may have been the projection of DARPA engineers who foresaw the potential dangers of self-aware advanced A.I. and what may come of giving it charge over advanced weaponry systems.”

And what's neat about that is that most people in the 80s had not really had this idea

0:49.3

of an internet or what was coming.

0:51.3

Maybe if you worked in government or something like that at some sort of secret

0:54.3

base, you knew about the experiments and data transmissions that ARPANet had done. But you didn't

1:01.5

know about this coming internet that would really change the entire world. However, there were a lot

1:06.3

of films, and in particular the Terminator series, which encapsulated this prediction of a coming,

1:11.6

not just interlinked computer network, but the actual idea of AI and a giant space-based

1:18.6

SkyNet network.

1:20.6

And that's what we have in the Terminator series.

1:23.6

The SkyNet is the bad guy, I guess you could say in the series, and it directs the Terminators

1:29.6

to go do its will on Earth to kill the rebels and things like that.

1:35.4

The whole idea though that a guy from Canada can come down to the United States and be a truck

1:43.8

driver and work at a drugstore like James Cameron did.

And then one day come up with this idea for a script and then he, you know, then he insists that he directs it,

1:54.0

even though he has really no filmmaking background at all.

1:58.0

And the fact that then, you know, he does a pretty good job and then it becomes a huge
