Hey there. I'm so glad you stopped by for this podcast. We hope so much we can serve you today.

Would you turn with me please to John chapter 20? We're going to land right in the middle of a

narrative which is not really the way to teach a lesson. But I want to pick up on a name as we've

been studying the Hebrew names of God. We're going to depart and jump over to a new testament name of

Christ for a Sunday. We're going to continue on with our series after this. But there's a very

specific reason as I have the the joy of celebrating the 20th year anniversary of teaching Sunday

school. There are very specific reasons why I'm turning you to this place. You'll notice with me if

you have any kind of of markers or phrases at the very beginning of your chapters, you'll notice

that this is going to be the discovery of the empty tomb. Mary has run to get John and Peter to

show them that the tomb is empty. And we're going to pick up for just a few moments after they

have gone back and left her there by herself. And it says, and I'm picking up at verse 10 of John

chapter 20, then the disciples went back to their homes, but Mary stood outside the tomb crying.

And as she wept, she bent over to look into the tomb and saw two angels in white seated where

Jesus' body had been one at the head and the other at the foot. And if you'll picture it with me,

the word that is used for Mary weeping is the strongest word that is ever used in the Greek

to depict weeping. It means to take on every kind of external force, external demonstration

of that kind of grief. So she's very likely tearing at her clothes. She might have even reached down,

grabbed a handful of dust and are dirt and thrown it on her head. But she is wailing.

There's nothing to be pictured here of tears simply streaming down her cheeks. She is wailing at

this point. And it says in verse 13, the angels ask her, woman, why are you crying? They have taken

my Lord away. And I don't know where they have put him at this. She turned around and saw Jesus

standing there, but she did not realize that it was Jesus. It's a wonderful word in the Greek
