Caleb Keith interviews Dr. Montgomery about his background and beginning in apologetics. For Dr. Montgomery, apologetics starts by asking questions about truth and the pursuit of knowledge. Welcome to the Thinking Fellows podcast. My name is Caleb, and today I'm not joined by any of the usual thinking fellows that are on the show.

0:08.1

Instead, I'm joined by Dr. John Warwick Montgomery, who is one of the distinguished senior fellows at 1517.

0:15.5

Today he's going to join me to talk about the task of the apologist, but before we do that, I wanted to kind of introduce or explain the name of the show.

0:24.6

Because we've been the thinking fellows ever since the beginning,

0:28.6

but that's not necessarily explained by anything besides that most of the hosts have doctor before their name.

0:34.6

So today is a good opportunity to do this. 1517, the Legacy Project, is built around reformation ideas, particularly ideas that were

1:12.4

And so that group of gentlemen are called the Thinking Fellows.

1:16.5

And so the name of our show is the Thinking Fellows podcast, because those fellows are who

1:20.7

come on the show primarily as guests and who host it regularly throughout the week.

1:26.3

And so that's what we're doing today. We're going to have

1:28.8

one of these distinguished fellows who's apologetic work creates one of the pillars of 1517.

1:35.7

We're about evangelism and apologetics, getting the Word of Christ out there. And in order to do that

1:42.0

effectively, you have to engage in apologetics. And so Dr. Montgomery

1:46.8

is a fantastic guest to have on the show. And what I'm going to do right now is let him perhaps

1:50.9

introduce himself a little bit. And then we'll talk about the task of the apologists, the role of the
