But while I was gone, as you well know, Minneapolis became an epicenter

of choice for a Trump administration eager to make an example of a sanctuary city, bringing

ice forces in large numbers to enforce immigration laws with an intensity that has resulted in

many arrests, two shootings, and the killing of a U.S. citizen, Renee Good.

Tensions ripple through the city and reverberate across the country.

Mistrust and suspicion color ICE enforcement actions.

Federal police say they feel threatened, disrespected, and impeded.

State and city authorities say they do not trust ICE investigations.

They question the usefulness of their raids and consider their tactics overly aggressive

and at times escalatory.

Minneapolis has therefore become a prism through which the country and quite possibly

the world now views

what the Trump administration means by a zero-tolerance policy for undocumented status.
