This week, I'm picking an excellent story that we did back in December about how AI could be used to ban teens from social media.

So what you do is you sit in front of their app.

There's a little frame on screen. So it's a little bit like, you know, at the beach, you get

those cardboard cutouts where you stick your face through and you take a photo from the other

side.

In an office, deep in London's Financial Centre, our features writer, Helen Rumbullough, was carrying out a rather

unusual test. You've got a frame on screen that you have to line up your ears and your forehead.

And once you've lined up accurately, the frame around your face goes green, which just shows that the

computer has a good read on your face. And then literally, in a hundredth of a second, like,

immediately the AI spits out what it thinks your age is.

Helen was trying out a whizzy new bit of tech, which claims it can accurately determine your age by using AI to examine your face.

And it's already being used by some of the world's most influential platforms, from Instagram to only fans.

With all AI, what's astonishing is the speed.

But I think with this one, it feels especially strange

because we imagine that we are estimating someone's age.

So that kind of thing where you're kind of like sizing someone up

and looking at the crow's feet.

But it does it.
