This week's podcast will be on the Sullivanian cult.

The founder of this cult was a man named Saul B. Newton and then his wife Dr. Jane Pierce.

So let's get started with them. Now guys information on this

guy is sparse at best. Saul Bernard Cohen was born on June 25th, 1906 in St. John New Brunswick.

There was another source that stated his date of birth was June 22nd but what's three days?

I wasn't really able to find out any information about his childhood at all.

I do know that he traveled to the United States and attended the University of

Wisconsin and graduated sometime just before 1930.

At some time during this, he had a wife named Myrtle,

although they did divorce.

After graduating from the University of Wisconsin, he traveled to Chicago where he associated

himself with these radical circles at the University of Chicago, himself becoming a Unionist, anti-fascist, and became an official member of the Communist

Party of the United States of America in 1933 when he was 27 years old. He was also a member of the Social Service

Employees Union, the International Labor Defense, and involved himself in several demonstrations.

According to the website Spanish Civil War. C.A.

Saul arrived in Spain via the Pyrenees Mountains, which is a mountain range that separates France from Spain,

and he arrived there in May of 1937. He would have been 31 years old. It was then that

he served in the Abraham Lincoln Brigade during the Spanish Civil War.

It states he was wounded in action in October 1937, but how he was injured I couldn't find.
